Funded by the State of Florida, VPK is FREE for all children four years old on or before September 1st of the program year. Also, there are no income requirements to be eligible for VPK.
Created in 2005 to prepare every four-year-old for kindergarten and continued educational success, the VPK program helps each child build a strong foundation through the use of developmentally appropriate curricula with an emphasis on early literacy skills.
As required by the state, highlights of VPK include activities that foster physical and academic readiness for kindergarten including sound, letter and number recognition, story comprehension, and following directions.
Most importantly, all four year olds in the Montessori classroom receive equal, individually-appropriate, educational opportunities.
